According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Howell was riding a motorcycle when he stopped for a red light at the intersection and was hit by a driver who failed to stop.

South Hill, WA – The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man who was killed in a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle in South Hill on Wednesday afternoon.
William Howell, 63, of Tacoma, died following the incident that happened at about 4:14 p.m. August 19, in the area of 144th Street East and 94th Avenue East.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Howell was riding a motorcycle when he stopped for a red light at the intersection and was hit by a driver who failed to stop.
Howell was ejected from the motorcycle and the bike crashed into another vehicle that was also stopped at the intersection.
The Pierce Fire Department crews arrived at the scene shortly after and performed CPR on Howell, who was in critical condition.
Despite efforts by the medics, Howell succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The driver who crashed into the motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment and later booked on charges of DUI and vehicular homicide.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
