According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Albert Barreno, 39, died following the accident that happened at about 1:23 p.m. July 30, near Highway 108 and Lower Mono Road.

Sonora, CA – The man who was killed in a collision involving two vehicles Thursday afternoon in Sonora has been identified as a Jamestown man.
According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Albert Barreno, 39, died following the accident that happened at about 1:23 p.m. July 30, near Highway 108 and Lower Mono Road.
The California Higwhay Patrol reported that two vehicles collided head-on on the highway near the intersection. The exact circumstances under which the collision occurred were yet to be established.
Multiple agencies, including the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, CAL FIRE, and the emergency medical services responded to the scene of the accident.
CHP reported that one person succumbed to their injuries as a result of the accident. The victim has since been identified as Barreno.
There were no reports of other injuries in regards to the accident.
The accident led to the closure of Highway 108 lanes in the area as authorities examined and cleared the scene.
An investigation by the California Highway Patrol is still ongoing.
