Driver Reversing Motorhome Runs Over Girl at Salt Point State Park

Sonoma County, CA – A four-year-old girl died after she was run over by an RV motorhome Sunday morning in the Salt Point State Park campground.

The Press Democrat reported that the incident happened just after 11 a.m., prompting California Highway Patrol officers and firefighters to respond to the campground.

The responders found a child trapped underneath a motorhome.

The firefighters used jacks to lift the RV motorhome and free the child.

The girl was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital with major injuries. She later died while receiving treatment.

The driver told authorities that they attempted to slowly pull forward to leave the campground but, because the RV was mistakenly in reverse and not in drive, the vehicle moved backward and ran over the kid. That motorist is a family friend of the child.
