Authorities reported that a 13-year-old Simi Valley resident was riding an e-bike southbound on the east sidewalk of Sequoia Avenue when the teen failed to stop at the railroad crossing and was hit by a passing train

Simi Valley, CA – A teenage e-bike rider was struck and killed by a train at a railroad crossing in Simi Valley on Saturday evening.
According to a report by the Simi Valley Police Department, the accident was reported at around 6:25 p.m. April 25, on Sequoia Avenue and Los Angeles Avenue.
Authorities reported that a 13-year-old Simi Valley resident was riding an e-bike southbound on the east sidewalk of Sequoia Avenue when the teen failed to stop at the railroad crossing and was hit by a passing train.
Simi Valley police and emergency crews arrived shortly after and attempted life-saving measures on the minor.
Despite efforts by the medics, the teen died at the scene. The victim’s identity was not released but authorities said the victim was a student in the Simi Valley Unified School District.
No one on the train reported any injuries in the incident.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Simi Valley Police Department.
