Shafter, CA – Authorities have released the identity of the teenager who was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding a pocket bike in Shafter on Wednesday night.
The incident took place on South Shafter Avenue and Riverside Street at around 9:04 p.m. on September 16.
According to preliminary reports, a 15-year-old boy was riding a pocket bike in the area when he collided with a vehicle near the intersection.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as Andres Gomez Osornio of Shafter.
Authorities reported that Andres was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The involved driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. The driver was not suspected to have been impaired, authorities reported.
The accident is still under investigation.
