Los Angeles, CA. – A major crash involving an overturned semi-truck and multiple other vehicles left several people injured and oil spilled onto the lanes of the 5 Freeway near Griffith Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on the northbound 5 Freeway, just south of the westbound 134 Freeway.
Investigators said the collision involved a semi-truck, a black Nissan Pathfinder, a white Toyota Camry, and a black Honda Civic.
The big rig jackknifed in the crash, spilling fuel across the roadway
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics treated multiple victims at the scene, and transported at least one of them to the hospital for further evaluation.
All lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway were closed for several hours while Caltrans crews cleared the oil spill and removed debris.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
