Los Angeles, CA. – Multiple people, including 1-year-old twins, were injured after a vehicle hit pedestrians Friday morning near an intersection in Chinatown, authorities reported.
The incident was reported around 11:47 a.m. in the 100 block of West Alpine Street near Alameda Street.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a woman driving a black SUV slammed into several pedestrians under unclear circumstances.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the accident.
Five people sustained injuries in the crash. Four of them were hospitalized, and one declined transportation.
Among those hospitalized, three were inside the car, including 1-year-old twins. The patients remained in unknown condition.
The collision was initially reported as a hit-and-run, but the driver was arrested a block away from the scene.
Authorities are investigating the collision.
