Lancaster, CA.– The man who was killed in a suspected DUI accident in Lancaster on Monday evening has been identified as Sergio Ortega, 18, of Little Rock, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.
The incident took place on 90th Street E and E Palmdale Boulevard at around 6:50 p.m. September 22.
According to the California Highway Patrol, M. Monroy, 47, of Palmdale, was driving a maroon Kia southbound on 90th Street East when he failed to stop for a red light and collided with a gray Infiniti G35 traveling east on Palmdale Boulevard.
The Infiniti then collided with a white Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck that was stopped for a red light at the intersection.
CHP said Ortega died at the scene following the crash.
Monroy was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, G. Martinez, 69, of Lancaster, was unhurt but a female passenger in the vehicle had minor injuries.
Monroy was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury or death.
An investigation into the deadly incident is ongoing.
