Santa Fe Springs, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Santa Fe Springs on Thursday morning.

According to the Whittier Police Department, the crash was reported at around 8:30 a.m. August 27, near Lakeland Road.

Authorities reported that a group of runners was attempting to cross the tracks while the crossing arms were down. A 34-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were hit by a passing train.

The woman was declared deceased at the scene. The struck man was rushed to a hospital and was expected to survive.

The crash caused a temporary closure of Lakeland Road as authorities worked at the scene.
