, CA – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 3 a.m. January 6, authorities were called to the scene of a crash on the northbound freeway at Magic Mountain Parkway.

Investigators determined that a semi-trailer, a box truck and a gold Toyota Camry were involved in the collision. The impact of the crash caused the box truck to overturn.

The California Highway Patrol and emergency crews responded to the scene and helped the parties involved. One person was declared deceased at the scene.

The victim's identity was not immediately released. It's unclear whether there were other injuries in the incident.

Three northbound lanes of the were shut down for three hours as authorities investigated the incident.

No additional information on the incident were provided. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

The city actively promotes traffic safety through its “Heads Up” campaign, encouraging drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to avoid distractions.
