According to Santa Ana police, Renterian was crossing southbound on Warner Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a car traveling eastbound.

Man Hit and Killed by Car Early Sunday Morning at Santa Ana Intersection Identified

Santa Ana, CA – 35-year-old Esteban Renterian of Bakersfield died after he was struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning at an intersection in Santa Ana, the Santa Ana Police Department reported.

The incident occurred around 4:53 a.m. on August 16, 2026, at Warner Avenue and Yale Street.

According to Santa Ana police, Renterian was crossing southbound on Warner Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a car traveling eastbound.

First responders found the man lying down in the roadway with severe injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The driver stopped and remained at the scene after the crash.

SAPD is investigating the collision.
