San Leandro, CA – An out-of-control Tesla involved in a crash struck and killed a worker who was unloading a semi-truck along the road in San Leandro on Tuesday morning.
According to the San Leandro Police Department, the incident transpired just before 11:30 a.m. February 24, on Doolittle Drive.
A preliminary investigation reveals that a driver manually operating a white Tesla Model 3 collided with a red Dodge Ram truck. The impact sent the Tesla into the back of a semi-truck parked along the road.
San Leandro police reported that a worker who was unloading the semi was standing outside the rig and was hit by the Tesla. The cause of the initial collision betwen the Dodge and the Tesla was not immediately established.
The worker sustained life-threatening injuries and died in the accident. The victim’s identity was not immediately disclosed by the authorities.
The drivers of the Tesla and the Dodge remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. According to police, there was no reason to believe alcohol or drugs played any role in the accident.
The San Leandro Police Department is conducting an investigation to determine the contributing factors to the crash.
