San Jose, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in San Jose on Friday morning, according to a report by the San Jose Police Department.

The accident took place at about 9:17 a.m. on April 24, in the 1400 block of Mabury Road.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a teenage girl was driving a white 2014 Infiniti sedan westbound on Mabury Road when she struck an adult pedestrian in the roadway. According to police, the victim was not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle.

San Jose police and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and located a critically injured pedestrian.

Medics performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian but despite their efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim’s identity was not immediately released pending notification of the next of kin.

The driver of the Infiniti was at the scene when the authorities arrived and was cooperative with the investigators.

The accident led to the closure of Mabury Road between Berryessa Station Way and Taylor Street as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.

No further details were immediately released. The San Jose Police Department is working to establish the exact circumstances of the crash.
