San Joaquin County, CA – At least one person died, and another was hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Monday morning on Highway 12 in San Joaquin County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A Honda car and a Chevrolet S10 were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames. The fire also spread onto nearby brush.
Firefighters responded and pronounced at least one person dead at the scene. The San Joaquin County Office of Medical Examiner was notified about the fatality.
At least one other person was hospitalized with unknown injuries.
Both vehicles were towed away from the collision scene.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
