According to the San Francisco Police Department, the accident was reported at around 11:30 a.m. April 28, at Chestnut Avenue and Mission Road.
Investigations into the incident revealed that an 89-year-old man was hit by a car while walking in the area. The exact circumstances under which the accident happened were yet to be established.
San Francisco police reported that the victim sustained major injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities identified the victim as Fidel Bautista, of South San Francisco.
The driver of the involved vehicle was at the scene when the authorities arrived and was cooperative with the investigators. The driver, whose identity was not released, was not arrested following the incident.
