San Diego, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by an MTS Trolley near the Old Town Transit Center in San Diego on Sunday afternoon, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The accident happened at around 12:45 p.m. on June 28, near Taylor Street and Pacific Highway.

Initial reports indicate that a man was hit by a trolley on the tracks between Congress Street and Pacific Highway. The circumstances under which the accident happened were not immediately established.

Several witnesses to crash contacted the authorities, who arrived at the scene shortly after.

Emergency crews also responded to the incident and the victim was rushed to a local UCSD hospital for treatment.

The victim was later declared deceased at the hospital. The victim’s identity was not immediately released pending notification of the next of kin.

The accident remained under investigation by the San Diego Police Department and more details are expected to be released.
