San Diego, CA – Motorcyclist Dies after Running Red Light at Otay Mesa Intersection

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision took place around 5:05 p.m. on August 8, 2026, at Palm and Norstad avenues.

San Diego, CA – A 43-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a car Saturday afternoon at an intersection in the Otay Mesa West neighborhood of San Diego.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision took place around 5:05 p.m. on August 8, 2026, at Palm and Norstad avenues.

Investigators said the rider was heading southbound on Norstad Avenue when he ran a red light at Palm Avenue. The rider was broadsided by a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck heading westbound on Palm.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, sustaining fatal injuries. He died before being taken to the hospital.

Authorities do not believe impairment was a contributing factor.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
