San Diego, CA – An 18-year-old Irvine girl died several days after suffering blunt force head trauma in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in San Diego County, according to authorities.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the deceased girl as 18-year-old Julianna Yoon, of Irvine.
The collision occurred at about 4:52 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, on southbound Interstate 5, south of the Aliso Creek Rest Area.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene following the multi-vehicle crash and located Yoon among those involved. She was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment.
Yoon remained hospitalized following the collision but succumbed to her injuries at approximately 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29. San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said Yoon died from complications of blunt force head trauma.
The California Highway Patrol’s Oceanside Area is investigating the crash. Further details regarding the circumstances of the collision have not been released.
