San Diego, CA – A 59-year-old man died after he collided with a big rig Tuesday afternoon while riding a bicycle in Otay Mesa, the San Diego Police Department reported.
The accident took place around 2:17 p.m. on August 11 at Siempre Viva Road and Otay Center Drive.
According to police, a 38-year-old big rig driver was turning from southbound Otay Center Drive onto Siempre Viva Road on a green light, and the 59-year-old cyclist was also traveling southbound on the right side of the tractor-trailer.
The cyclist collided with the front right wheel of the big rig.
The rider sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be contributing factors.
