San Bernardino, CA – Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a traffic collision involving a motor scooter and an SUV on Friday afternoon in San Bernardino.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner Division identified the victim as Jason Rowland, a 49-year-old San Bernardino resident.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:46 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Del Rosa Avenue, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.
Investigators said Rowland was riding a 2002 Vespa scooter when he collided with a 2016 Subaru Outback. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the collision.
The busy intersection remained closed for several hours while officers conducted the on-scene investigation before reopening later in the evening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the San Bernardino Police Department.
