Richmond, CA – At Least One Person Severely Hurt in Traffic Collision on Interstate 80

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 6:10 p.m. on August 1, 2026, on the westbound Interstate 80 near Central Avenue.

Richmond, CA – At least one person was severely hurt in a two-vehicle collision that happened Saturday evening on Interstate 80 in Richmond.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 6:10 p.m. on August 1, 2026, on the westbound Interstate 80 near Central Avenue.

A silver Mercedes-Benz sedan and another car were involved in the collision. Flames and smoke were coming out of the Mercedes’ engine while the driver was still inside.

Richmond firefighters responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the crash.

The firefighters requested a helicopter to respond and airlift at least one person who sustained major injuries.

The Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lanes of westbound I-80 were closed during the rescue operation.

Authorities are investigating the accident.
