Redding, CA – An e-bike rider was hospitalized with major injuries after colliding with a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in Redding.

According to the Redding Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on August 25, 2026, at North Market Street and Arboretum.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a man was riding an electric bicycle heading northbound on the southbound sidewalk of North Market Street. At the same time, the female driver of a white Chevy 1500 pickup truck was preparing to travel eastbound on Arboretum from the United Gas Food Mart parking lot.

Authorities said when the light turned green, the pickup truck driver proceeded to move and the rider failed to stop, resulting in a collision.

The cyclist sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was hospitalized in unknown condition.

The pickup truck driver was not hurt.

The RPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the accident.
