Rancho Cucamonga, CA – Two people were killed following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection on the border of Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario Thursday night, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:46 p.m. on May 28, 2026, at Fourth Street and Buffalo Avenue.
Authorities said the collision involved two vehicles, including one that crashed into and wrapped around a traffic light pole. Emergency crews arrived to find occupants trapped inside the heavily damaged vehicle, prompting firefighters to conduct extrication efforts.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Jesus Valtierra of San Bernardino, while the passenger was identified as 34-year-old Alejandra Esperanza Cervantes-Medina of Fontana. Both Valtierra and Medina were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the second vehicle may have been occupied by up to two people, although it remains unclear whether they were transported to a hospital or declined medical treatment. No arrests were reported.
The cause of the Rancho Cucamonga crash remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported and remained in the area while investigators processed evidence and cleared the wreckage.
The crash caused significant disruption near the intersection as emergency personnel conducted the investigation and removed the damaged vehicles.
