Portland, OR – A forklift operator was struck and severely injured by a train on Friday morning in Southeast Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The accident happened near the intersection of SE 12th Avenue and SE Clinton Street at around 11:20 a.m. January 23.
According to the Portland police, the forklift operator was working in the area when he was hit by an Amtrak train. The circumstances under which the operator was hit were not immediately established.
The PPB and crews from the Portland Fire & Rescue arrived at the scene shortly after and attended to the forklift operator.
The victim was then transported by AMR to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The victim was only identified an adult man.
The train was not derailed in the accident and no other injuries were reported.
No additional details on the incident were immediately available. The Portland Police Bureau is investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
