Pleasanton, CA – Three people were injured following a major injury crash involving a construction crew on Interstate 680 in Pleasanton Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at approximately 7:20 p.m. on southbound Interstate 680 just south of the Bernal Avenue on-ramp.
According to the CHP incident log, the crash involved a white semi-truck and a silver Toyota Corolla. The semi-truck was in the process of dropping off traffic attenuators for a construction operation when the collision occurred.
Responding officers reported that two people had exited the vehicle with minor injuries, while one person remained trapped inside. The trapped victim had serious injuries. The victim was conscious and breathing but was unable to speak.
Two ambulances responded to the scene to transport the patients.
The crash blocked the No. 1 Lane and prompted authorities to issue a SigAlert as emergency crews responded to the scene.
Tow crews later removed the damaged Toyota Corolla, and all lanes of southbound Interstate 680 were reopened at approximately 9:30 p.m. after the SigAlert was canceled.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
