Marion County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified the motorist killed in a Tuesday afternoon head-on collision on Highway 22 in Marion County as Phillip Craig Tramontana, 72, of Idanha.

The crash was reported on State Route 22 near milepost 40 at around 12:39 p.m. on February 11.

The preliminary investigation indicated a blue Ford Ranger operated by Tramontana attempted to pass several vehicles in the opposite traffic lane and struck an oncoming white Subaru Outback driven by Aidan Michael Sowder-Sinor,20, of Logan, Utah

Both vehicles swerved into a gravel area on the south side of the highway and collided head-on.

Tramontana was declared deceased at the scene.

Sowder-Sinor was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway was impacted for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation.

An investigation is ongoing.
