Petaluma, CA – One person was injured in a crash involving a wrong-way motorist suspected to have been impaired on Monday night in Petaluma.

According to a report by the Petaluma Police Department, the wreck happened on Lakeville Street and Pine View Way shortly after 8:30 p.m. January 26.

Investigations reveal that Vincent Schrader, 59, of Sonoma, traveled around a concrete barrier heading the wrong way and collided with a second vehicle. The concrete barrier was put in place for a lane closure.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Two dogs were inside Schrader’s car and one of them was injured. The injured dog was transported to North Bay Animal Shelter.

Petaluma police reported that Schrader was suspected to have been impaired and was arrested. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on multiple charges including DUI.

The incident remained under investigation by the Petaluma Police Department.
