Percy Kropf Killed in Albany Pedestrian Accident on Waverly Drive and 47th Avenue
Albany, Oregon (September 11, 2023) – 85-year-old Percy Kropf was killed in a pedestrian crash at an intersection in Albany Friday morning.
The fatality was reported at around 9:15 a.m. September 8 on Southeast Waverly Drive and 47th Avenue.
James Lee Howe, 43, of Albany was driving a northbound white 2009 Toyota Camry on Waverly Drive when it left its lane of travel and struck Kropf walking at the crosswalk.
Kropf was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis for treatment, where he later died.
Howe was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, second-degree manslaughter, and reckless driving.
Waverly Drive was closed for just over three hours while a Multi-Agency Investigation Team investigated the crash scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
