Sacramento, CA. — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Monday morning in Sacramento, authorities reported.

Emergency crews responded at about 5:35 a.m. to the intersection of North 16th Street and North B Street, where they found a person down in the roadway.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital but later died from their injuries, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

North 16th Street at North C Street was closed following the collision, along with portions of North B Street and Ahern Street, as investigators processed the scene.
