Santa Monica, CA. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on Friday, August 15, at an intersection in downtown Santa Monica.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:02 p.m. at 4th Street and Colorado Avenue.

SMPD officers and Santa Monica Fire Department personnel responded to the scene within minutes.

A male pedestrian was found at the scene with critical injuries. Firefighters transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police said there was no indication that drug impairment was a factor.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
