Palm Springs, CA.- A pedestrian was killed in an accident that occurred in Palm Springs on Sunday morning, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
The incident was reported at around 3:20 a.m. December 14, on State Route 111 between Tipton and Snow Creek roads.
According to police, a white Toyota truck was traveling on SR 111 when the vehicle hit a pedestrian in the roadway. The vehicle's onboard OnStar system initiated a 911call immediately after striking the victim.

The pedestrian died in the accident. The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of the next-of-kin but was only said to be a Cherry Valley man.
The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Authorities reported that the driver was not suspected to have been impaired and that the incident was not a hit-and-run as earlier reported.
The accident remains under investigation.
