Investigators reported that a vehicle was heading east on East Palm Canyon Drive when it struck a man walking in the east crosswalk

Palm Springs, CA – A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle on West Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs on Wednesday night.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the accident took place at the intersection of Cherokee Way shortly after 8:15 p.m. on April 29.
Investigators reported that a vehicle was heading east on East Palm Canyon Drive when it struck a man walking in the east crosswalk. According to police, the vehicle was believed to have been traveling on a green light when the collision happened.
Emergency personnel found the pedestrian with major injuries at the scene and rendered aid to the victim.
The pedestrian was then rushed to a hospital, where he was declared deceased. Authorities did not immediately release details on the victim’s identity.
The involved motorist remained at the scene after the collision and reportedly cooperated with the investigators.
It’s unclear whether speed or impairment played any role in the accident. No arrests were announced in connection with the accident.
