According to the Palm Springs Police Department, the wreck took place on Sunrise Way, south of Tamarisk Road at about 2 p.m. on May 7.
Police reported that four vehicles were involved in the collision on Sunrise Way. The manner in which the vehicles crashed was not immediately established.
Palm Springs police officers and emergency crews responded to the scene of the collision.
Medics evaluated the involved parties for injuries. Two people had moderate injuries while a third patient suffered minor injuries.
According to investigators, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was not suspected to have played a role in the accident.
Sunrise Way was shut down as authorities investigated and cleared the scene. The roadway was reopened at about 3 p.m.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation by the Palm Springs Police Department.
