According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle traveling westbound on Wooley Road struck a man who was attempting to walk across the roadway

Oxnard, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Wooley Road in Oxnard on Friday night, according to the Oxnard Police Department.
The deadly accident occured at about 11:30 p.m. on May 2, just west of Commercial Avenue
According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle traveling westbound on Wooley Road struck a man who was attempting to walk across the roadway. The pedestrian, who was not walking in a crosswalk, was thrown into the eastbound lanes by the impact of the collision.
Upon arrival at the scene, police and emergency crews found the pedestrian lying in the eastbound lanes of Wooley Road.
The victim was declared deceased at the scene of the accident. He was only identified as a 51-year-old man from Oxnard.
The driver of the involved SUV, a 21-year-old Oxnard resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. The driver was not suspected to have been impaired at the time of the accident.
