Palo Alto, CA – One person was seriously injured following a four-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 101 in East Palo Alto on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred around 10:58 a.m. on October 29, 2025, on southbound US-101 at the University Avenue off-ramp.
According to CHP, the crash involved a gray Honda Civic, a silver Mazda sedan, and two additional vehicles.
Two of the involved vehicles sustained major front and rear-end damage, and airbags were deployed upon impact. One vehicle struck the sound wall on the right-hand side of the highway, while the others came to rest near the off-ramp.
CHP officials said a male driver reportedly exited his vehicle following the collision and collapsed on the ground. The driver suffered major injuries, including a possible broken nose. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The University Avenue off-ramp was temporarily closed as crews worked to clear the scene and reopen lanes.
Tow services were requested for the heavily damaged vehicles, and traffic remained backed up for an extended period.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
