According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:36 p.m. on the westbound 8 Freeway near Grossmont Center Drive and La Mesa Boulevard.
La Mesa, CA. – One person was hospitalized with major injuries after a wrong-way collision that happened Thursday night on a freeway in La Mesa.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:36 p.m. on the westbound 8 Freeway near Grossmont Center Drive and La Mesa Boulevard.
Several people called authorities, reporting that an older gray SUV with its lights off was driving the wrong way in the slow lane when it collided with another car.
First responders found the SUV blocking the slow lane and two sedans blocking the middle and left lanes.
One person suffered major injuries in the collision. The victim was hospitalized in unknown condition.
All lanes were shut down as crews worked the scene.
CHP is investigating the crash.
