, CA. – One person died, and another was hurt in a fiery collision that happened Wednesday morning in the Griffith Park area of Los Angeles.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 3:20 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway near the transition road to the 134 Freeway.

Two cars collided, causing one of them to catch fire with an occupant trapped inside.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

An occupant from the other car was evaluated for unknown injuries.

All northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway at the 134 Freeway were shut down following the crash.

The lanes were reopened about four hours later.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
