The two died in the collision that happened early Thursday morning near Valley Boulevard and Edgewood Drive.

Alhambra, CA. – Authorities identified 28-year-old Officer Alec Sanders and 42-year-old Gabriela Moreno as the two people who died at the end of a police pursuit crash involving a suspected stolen vehicle in the city in Alhambra.
The two died in the collision that happened early Thursday morning near Valley Boulevard and Edgewood Drive.
According to the Alhambra Police Department, police officers were chasing a suspected stolen Hyundai SUV heading north on Edgewood Drive.
Details about when and where the pursuit started were not available.
At that time, a police SUV driven by Sanders was westbound on Valley Boulevard when the vehicles collided at the intersection.
It was not clear if Sanders was responding to the pursuit.
The Hyundai ended up in the parking lot of a nearby business, and the police SUV stopped in the westbound lanes of Valley Boulevard.
Moreno was ejected from the Hyundai and died at the scene.
Sanders died at Los Angeles Medical Center, where he was rushed for treatment.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 27-year-old Steven Zapata of El Monte, was hospitalized with moderate injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. He was expected to be booked once he was medically cleared.
Another passenger in the Hyundai, only identified as a 52-year-old man, was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer Sanders joined the Alhambra Police Department about eight months ago. He had reported to work Wednesday night to cover a shift for a colleague.
