Gilbert, AZ – The Gilbert Police Department has identified two people killed in a traffic collision at an intersection in Gilbert Friday night as Nicole Snell, 36, and 33-year-old Marisa Jorgenson.
The grisly wreck was reported just before 9 p.m. on September 19 at Recker and Ray Roads.
Reports revealed that a speeding westbound Ford Explorer on Ray Road driven by 35-year-old man, failed to stop for a red light and crashed into a northbound Honda Accord.
The impact of the collision caused the Accord to spin out and crash into a traffic pole while the Explorer continued westbound and rolled before stopping west of the intersection.
The driver of the Honda Snell and backseat passenger Jorgenson were pronounced dead at the crash site.
The Explorer driver was hospitalized in a critical condition and will be arrested and booked into the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office once he is released from the hospital.
No additional information about the incident was provided.
An investigation is underway.

The crash occurred on Recker and Ray roads shortly before 9 p.m. September 19.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision, whose cause was not immediately established.
Two people riding in one of the vehicles were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupant of the second vehicle was hospitalized in critical condition.
