Tucson, AZ – The Tucson Police Department has identified a motorcyclist killed in a Friday afternoon crash on Golf Links Road in Tucson as 69-year-old Nicholas Jeffers.
The incident was reported on Golf Links Road and Aviation Highway on February 7.
According to a Tucson Police Department news release, Jeffers was riding a 2018 Indian motorcycle on Golf Links Road when he exited onto the Aviation Highway on-ramp and was rear-ended by a stationary 2013 Volkswagen.
Jeffers, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Volkswagen driver was not hurt.
Police said Jeffers' failure to control his speed and the Volkswagen's stopping in the roadway were contributing factors in the collision.
The driver of the Volkswagen was cited for being positioned in the gore area.
The crash remains under investigation.
