The California Highway Patrol reported that a 2019 KTM Duke slammed into the side of a 2018 Tesla Model X that was trying to make a left turn from Hoffman Lane onto northbound Highway 29
Napa County, CA – A man who was killed in a collision involving a Tesla in Napa County on Saturday afternoon has been identified by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
Francisco Bernard Padilla, 35, of Vacaville, died following the accident that took place shortly after 4 p.m. February 28, on Highway 29 and Hoffman Lane.
The California Highway Patrol reported that a 2019 KTM Duke slammed into the side of a 2018 Tesla Model X that was trying to make a left turn from Hoffman Lane onto northbound Highway 29.
Padilla was identified as the driver of the KTM Duke. He was declared deceased at the site of the accident.
The driver of the Tesla, an Oakland resident, was not hurt and remained at the scene of the crash.
The southbound lanes of Highway 29 were shut down for nearly three hours while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
Additional details on the incident were not immediately released. The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation to determine exactly what caused the incident.
