Moreno Valley, CA – One person died, and at least one other was injured in a head-on collision that happened Monday afternoon in Moreno Valley, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A sedan and a pickup truck collided head-on, trapping parties inside. The vehicles were blocking traffic lanes, and one of them was reportedly smoking.
CHP officers and the Riverside County Fire Department responded to the scene.
One person was quickly pulled from the wreckage with serious injuries. Another person was extricated about 20 minutes later with minor injuries. The patients were taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment.
According to CHP logs, one person died in the collision. There were no details given about the victim killed.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
