Monterey County, CA – A man from Big Sur was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday night in Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on Highway 1 near Palo Colorado at about 8:23 p.m. on August 15.
Investigations into the incident revealed that a pedestrian was walking westbound across Highway 1 when he was struck by a Dodge coupe traveling northbound on the highway.
The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. He has since been identified as Brian Roberts, 47, of Big Sur.
The driver of the Dodge, a 20-year-old man, was at the scene when the authorities arrived.
According to investigators, alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the accident.
No additional details were provided. The cause of the crash is under investigaation by the CHP.
