Montebello, CA – An early Saturday morning collision involving a big rig on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello claimed the life of a 26-year-old man.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck was reported at around 3:04 a.m. January 10, on the North Garfield Avenue exit from the eastbound freeway.
Through investigation, CHP learned that the man was driving a white sedan on the off-ramp when he collided with a semi-truck. Reasons as to why the two vehicles collided were not immediately established.
The CHP and Montebello Fire Department crews responded to the accident. The medics pronounced the sedan driver deceased at the scene.
The driver was identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as Aidan Guevara. His city of residence was not revealed.
There were no reports of any other injuries to other involved parties.
One eastbound lane of the Pomona Freeway exit was temporarily shut down as a result of the collision. The California Highway Patrol is working to find out what led up to the accident.
