18-Year-Old Mitchel Thorpe Killed in Jackson County Crash on Highway 140

Jackson County, OR.- Two Eagle Point School District 9 students were killed in a car accident in Jackson County on Saturday.
According to a report by the Oregon State Police, the crash took place in the 9600 block of Highway 140 near milepost 9 on November 1.
The OSP reported that a 17-year-old Eagle Point boy was driving a Ford F-350 when he slammed through the guardrail and the truck overturned into a creek.
The teenage driver and one of his passengers, 18-year-old Mitchel Frank Thorpe, were killed in the crash.
Authorities said the two were not wearing their seatblets at the time of the accident.
Two other passengers, both 17, were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Speed and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs were believed to be factors in the crash.
The incident is under investigation.
