Lane County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified Mathew Jacob Decker, 37,  of Eugene, as a victim killed in a head-on collision on Highway 126 in Lane County early Thursday morning.

The grisly wreck was reported at around 2:23 a.m. on April 3 on State Route 126 near milepost 6.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Freightliner semi-truck traveling westbound operated by Joseph Jack Botelho, 64, of Veneta, collided head-on with an eastbound white Ford T-350 van driven by Decker for an unknown reason.

Decker was declared deceased at the scene.

Botelho had sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

The highway was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
