Kings County, CA. – 21-year-old Marisa Gomez of Lemoore died after her vehicle was broadsided by another car Sunday, August 17, at an intersection in the city, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The accident transpired around 11:15 a.m. at 16th Avenue and Lacey Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Gomez was driving a 2024 Ford Mustang south on 16th Avenue.
At the same time, another woman was driving a 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz westbound on Lacey Boulevard, approaching the intersection with 16th Avenue.
Authorities said Gomez failed to yield for the Hyundai and entered the intersection.
The front of the Hyundai struck the driver’s side of the Mustang.
The impact sent the Mustang off the roadway into an orchard.
Gomez was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.
Her family opened a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for her funeral expenses.
The driver of the Hyundai was hospitalized with minor injuries.
