Maria Pena Killed in Sacramento Pedestrian Accident on Las Palmas Avenue near Elementary School

Sacramento, CA. – 48-year-old Maria Araceli Pena has been identified as the woman who died in a pedestrian accident that left a child injured on Sunday afternoon in Sacramento.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, the pedestrian accident occurred on Las Palmas Avenue near Las Palmas Elementary School at around 3:15 p.m.

Pena and a 4-year-old child were run over by an SUV in a parking lot in unknown circumstances.

The SUV reportedly came to rest in the field near the parking lot after the incident.

Pena was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The child was rushed to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
