San Diego, CA. – A man died after being struck by a car on Sunday evening in Carmel Valley.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the accident happened around 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Carmel Knolls Drive near Almondwood Way.

The man was walking a dog in the area and were struck by a westbound Lexus.

The man was found unresponsive at the scene and was taken to Scripps Health in La Jolla where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
