Palo Alto, CA. – A man died Wednesday from injuries he sustained after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle earlier this month on Foothill Expressway, authorities reported.

The collision happened around 12:20 p.m. on October 4 in the 3400 block of Foothill Expressway near Hillview Avenue.

Police said the bicyclist, a man in his 80s, was heading south in the bike lane when he moved into traffic and was hit by a 2022 Mercedes-Benz.

He sustained a severe head injury in the crash.

Paramedics took the rider to a local hospital, where he later died.

The driver, a person in their 90s, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities said drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
